Carlos Enrique Santelli, Tenor<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A Winner of the 2018 Metropolitan Opera National Council\nAuditions, tenor Carlos Enrique Santelli is a recent graduate of Los Angeles\nOpera’s Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program, where he covered Nadir in\nThe Pearl Fishers. In the 2019-2020 season, Mr. Santelli makes his San Diego\nOpera debut as Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia, returns to Dayton opera as\nRamiro in La cenerentola and sings his first performances of Tonio in La fille\ndu regiment with Opera Orlando. On the concert stage, he performs Handel\u2019s\nMessiah with the Boise Philharmonic, as well as a joint recital with his wife,\nmezzo-soprano Ashley Dixon. Last season, Mr. Santelli made his Dayton Opera debut\nas Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville and performed as tenor soloist in\nMendelssohn\u2019s Die Erste Walpurgisnacht with the Sacramento Choral Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent projects with LA Opera include performances in\nSalome, conducted by James Conlon, and Wonderful Town, conducted by Grant\nGershon. Additionally, Mr. Santelli appeared as a guest soloist in a special\ngala celebrating the 10-year anniversary of LA Opera\u2019s Domingo-Colburn-Stein\nYoung Artist Program. Further collaborations on the West Coast include numerous\nprojects with LA Opera\u2019s Artist-in-Residence Matthew Aucoin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the past two summers, Mr. Santelli was a member of Santa\nFe Opera\u2019s distinguished Apprentice Artist Program where he worked with such\nnoted conductors as Harry Bicket, Emmanuel Villaume, and Corrado Rovaris. The\nsummer of 2017 was a particularly notable season for Mr. Santelli as he made\nhis principal role debut with the company as Arturo in a new production of\nLucia di Lammermoor. His scene work there included Nemorino in L\u2019elisir d\u2019amore\nand Arnold in Guillaume Tell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carlos Enrique Santelli\u2019s concert engagements have included\nappearances as the tenor soloist in Handel\u2019s Messiah (with the Binghamton\nPhilharmonic Orchestra), Mozart\u2019s Coronation Mass (with the Rochester Symphony\nOrchestra), and Mozart\u2019s Requiem (with the University of Michigan\/Yale Alumni\nGlee Club).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Santelli received his Bachelor of Music degree from the\nOberlin Conservatory of Music and his Master of Music from the University of\nMichigan. It was at the latter institution that he had the distinction of\nholding a Jessye Norman Graduate Fellowship. He is a native of Orlando,\nFlorida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ashley Dixon, Mezzo-Soprano<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Ashley Dixon, mezzo-soprano, grand finals winner of the\nMetropolitan Opera National Council Auditions is in her second year of the\nSan Francisco Opera Adler Fellowship program. Last season, she covered the\nrole of Sara, Duchess of Nottingham in Roberto Devereux <\/em>and\nmade her main stage debut in Heggie\u2019s It\u2019s a Wonderful Life<\/em> as\nthe alto soloist in the angel quartet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the summer of 2017 Ms. Dixon sang the role of Popova in\nWilliam Walton\u2019s The Bear<\/em> with the Merola\nOpera Program. There she also covered the title role in Rossini\u2019s La Cenerentola<\/em> and ended her summer season on the\nWar Memorial Opera House stage singing an aria from Massent\u2019s Cendrillon.<\/em>\n\nMs. Dixon\u2019s 16-17 season included her debut with Michigan Opera Theater\nin Copland\u2019s The Tender Land <\/em>as Mrs. Splinters. In\nconcert, Ms. Dixon appeared on the Hill Auditorium stage as mezzo-soprano\nsoloist in Mozart\u2019s Requiem <\/em>and\nwith the University of Michigan Men\u2019s Glee Club in Schubert\u2019s St\u00e4ndchen<\/em>.
